Imo State Government Declares Land Allocation Documents from Irete Pocket Layout as Fraudulent and Backdated

The Imo State Government, through the Office of the Governor - monitoring and compliance, has officially disowned land allocation documents circulating for the Irete Pocket Layout, including one recently surfaced offer letter purportedly issued by the Imo State Housing Corporation.

In a public announcement signed by Chinasa Nwaneri, Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring/Compliance, the government declared that no approval or authorization was granted to the Imo Housing Corporation for any layouts at IRETE POCKET LAYOUT, RESERVE C LAYOUT EXTENSION, IMO HOUSING ESTATE AVU, OBINZE & PORT HARCOURT ROAD AXIS. The statement described all related land allocation papers as fake and fraudulently backdated.

A specific document, titled Concessional/Compensatory Offer and dated January 23, 2019, allegedly granting allocation of Plot 137A at Irete Pocket Layout to a private entity, was shown to be one of such fraudulent offers. The government has warned that any transaction based on such documents is at the risk of the buyer and will attract the full weight of the law.

The Imo State Government reaffirmed its commitment to decisively deal with anyone or group conducting unauthorized activities on these layouts and advised the public to steer clear of such illegal dealings. Further notices may be issued as necessary.
